Cooperative Education (co-op)
Co- op allows students to learn work related skills by placing them within workplaces of interest to them. It is a great way to find out where your future career interests may lie and gain some hands-on experience while earning High School credits. Students spend half of their day at a work placement learning by doing and seeing. For every 110 hours at a placement, they receive a credit! It is recommended for students hoping to find an apprenticeship upon leaving High School.
Each student has the opportunity to:
Create a Co-Op Work Station Profile, develop a career portfolio, including: cover letters, resume, interest inventories, work experience certificates, exemplar work, attend health and safety workshops and work towards certificates in:
- Service Excellence
- CPR / First Aid
- Entry Level Skills Programme
- WHMIS
- Fall Prevention
- Passport to Safety
